***This is a Peace Officer Position. To be eligible, you must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Department of Human Resources AND either be currently eligible or eligible for reinstatement as a PC 830.2, California State Peace Officer. If you are not a current peace officer employed by a State of California agency and in possession of a POST – Basic Certificate, you are not eligible for this position and must apply to take the State Park Peace Officer Cadet (Ranger/Lifeguard) Exam when offered. The reporting location for this position is the Ranger Office at District Headquarters in San Clemente State Beach. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger). This position is assigned to the San Clemente and San Onofre State Beaches and visitor services operations team. This position is typically a night shift position on a 5/8 schedule. The duties of this position include: patrol for the protection of visitors, employees, and park resources, interpretation, and public assistance. This position will be a lead person providing leadership and guidance for seasonal personnel, camp hosts, and volunteers. This position offers many opportunities for the self-motivated person to make a lasting impact. This position is pending Executive Personnel Review Committee approval. State housing is not available.
