The reporting location for this position is Carpinteria State Beach, and includes Rincon Point. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger). This position offers an opportunity for a full range of visitor services activities. Carpinteria State Beach is a popular full service campground and day use facility. Work assignments may include working closely with concurrent jurisdiction agencies in a variety of enforcement and public safety challenges; resource protection of dune habitat, significant tide pools and archeological sites; active involvement in the aquatic safety program; an active interpretive program that includes junior ranger programs, campfire programs, visitor center operations and community involvement programs along with an active camp host program. It is surrounded by the coastal community of Carpinteria, which offers a great year-round climate and excellent quality of life. Firearms and or Defensive Tactics Instructors are desirable as well as a commitment to the generalist ranger tradition. This position is pending Executive Personnel Review Committee approval.
