The reporting location for this position is the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Headquarters in Borrego Springs. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Peace Officer Supervisor of Operations at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The desert State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) positions conduct interpretive programs, Junior Ranger, School Outreach and campfire programs. They ensure effective patrol to protect resources, facilities, employees and the public; respond to accidents and rescue operations; and ensure the protection of natural and cultural resources. With over 640,000 acres, this is the largest unit of the State Park System. The terrain and location of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park poses unique challenges to the Ranger staff working in this unit. The position requires considerable ability in emergency medical responder skills, educational program development and community involvement. This position is pending Executive Personnel Review Committee approval. State housing may be available. For further information regarding this position, please contact Kathy Dice at (619) 985-7167.
