***This is a Peace Officer Position. To be eligible, you must meet the minimum qualifications established by the Department of Human Resources AND either be currently eligible or eligible for reinstatement as a PC 830.2, California State Peace Officer. If you are not a current peace officer employed by a State of California agency and in possession of a POST – Basic Certificate, you are not eligible for this position and must apply to take the State Park Peace Officer Cadet (Ranger/Lifeguard) Exam when offered.  For further information regarding your rights and eligibility please visit the Department Link listed below before calling or emailing the listed contact.***

The reporting location for this position is Bodie State Historic Park. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Peace Officer Supervisor (Ranger). The incumbent will be part of an exceptional generalist ranger team at this remote park and will be responsible for law enforcement and public safety, natural and cultural resource protection, interpretation, volunteer management, and special event oversight. This position may also act as a liaison with the Bodie Foundation and will work with allied agencies. The successful applicant will also assist in covering operations at Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve. This is a great opportunity to work in a remote location and in a unique unit of the State Park System. Firearms or EMR instructor is desirable. This position is pending Executive Personnel Review Committee approval. State housing is required.
