Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manger II, Tax and Fee Case Management Section, Board Proceedings Division, the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) performs work of average difficulty in a wide variety of consultative and analytical staff services assignments in the management of California’s Corporate Franchise and Personal Income Tax Appellate Program. The incumbent has authority to plan and carry out administrative responsibility for all steps in the process: uses judgment in interpreting and reviewing taxpayer appeals for compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, evaluates, makes a determination and a final recommendation in the jurisdiction of the Board of Equalization to consider purported appeals and determine deadlines and monitors compliance to assure prompt completion of the appellate function. The incumbent makes decisions on the management of appeals and advises interested parties, the Franchise Tax Board and the Board of Equalization Legal staff on the progress of appeals. Perform other job-related duties as required. The position is located in a high-rise building. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
