The Administrative Support Division, Telecommunications Section is recruiting for a Systems Software Specialist II (SSS II) Supervisor experienced in supervising voice/data telephony systems projects. The SSS II Supervisor will lead and oversee staff on projects including programming and software upgrades to proprietary BCM systems and programming wireless devices on a Business Enterprise Server platform. The incumbent will initiate and supervise research and upgrades to software and operating systems as new releases become available and program quality of service and configure Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking over Internet Protocol. Candidates must be able to prepare budget change proposals and staffing models, cost estimates, budget projections, and technical bid specifications. The SSS II Supervisor is responsible for all installations of equipment, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, service contracts, and warranties. Candidates will supervise analog, digital, and VoIP communication services and support including hardware and software configuration and upgrades agency-wide. The incumbent will supervise and provide high-level technical support for all Headquarters and Field Office voice and data telecommunication systems, including: voicemail, video teleconferencing, cellular, smart phones, Automated Call Distributor, VoIP, etc.
Responsibility includes the supervision, planning, and coordination of system software projects including office expansions, alterations and relocations, upgrades to existing communications software and systems, developing automated attendant scripts, design of call router trees, and programming the Central Office features and functionalities on a Public Switched Network.
The candidate must be a team player with strong leadership who is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service while coordinating multiple projects. The SSS II Supervisor must demonstrate competence in a general supervisory role and possess the ability to gain influence, motivate, persuade, and lead individuals and/or groups. The incumbent will provide leadership and direction to staff and plan, schedule, and prioritize workload in the unit. Responsibilities include defining assignments and ensuring staff accountability. This position requires the ability to work in a high-rise building and travel to BOE Field Offices. Travel required 20% of the time. Training and development assignments may be considered.
