Job Description:

The Stockton Communications Center (STCC) has one vacancy for a 2 year/24 month limited term Public Safety Dispatcher.  There is the possibility that the position will be converted to a full time position in the near future.  STCC offers a 3/12 schedule with seniority sign-ups.

Duties:  These include operating the radio, visicad and vesta; dispatching appropriate personnel and resources; answering both emergency and non-emergency calls from officers, public, media and allied agencies; processing reports and records, and sitting/standing for prolonged periods of time.  This classification requires a net typing speed of 40 words per minute.  Employees work various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.  They are required to work overtime as needed.  They must consistently report to work on time with a minimum of absences.

Desirable qualifications:  The position requires a motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills and attendance.

Who may apply:  Persons currently in the Public Safety Dispatcher classification who are eligible to transfer, should submit a CHP 220, Request for Transfer, to the contact person below.  The most senior same-class transfer who responds by the final filing date shall be selected. 

 Persons eligible to apply must be on a certification list, eligible to transfer, voluntarily demote, reinstate, or be on an SROA list or designated Surplus.  All applicants will be considered; only the most qualified will be interviewed.
