Job Description:
The position is in San Francisco. Under the general supervision of a Business Taxes Administrator I, the Business Tax Compliance Specialist independently performs the more complex and difficult tax compliance and collection work and is responsible for analyzing consumer use tax and closed out corporate collection accounts to determine if the corporate officers or responsible parties can be held liable, effecting collections, and for recommending for discharge those accounts that are uncollectable. The incumbent may come into contact with monies owed and while working autonomously, informs the supervisor of the more complex and/or sensitive issues on assigned cases and acts as the lead person in cases leading to criminal prosecution on fraudulent and illegal operations. The incumbent acts as an expert resource to journey level staff with responsibility under the various sales and use tax programs and provides administrative support to management. Incumbent must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Meeting the training requirements for this position may require overnight travel of up to five consecutive nights. More than one position may be available. The position is located in a high-rise building. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
