The Board of Equalization is looking for a motivated individual with superior written and verbal communication skills. The candidate should have knowledge and experience with network and host-based security strategies and methodologies; risk assessments and analysis; incident response; information security awareness and education; and a strong technical background with experience and knowledge of application layer security. A general knowledge of operating systems, networking protocols, intrusion detection/protection, active content, malware, defense in depth, and separation of duties. Under the direction of the Manager, Information Security Office, the incumbent will lead the department’s implementation of the BOE Information Security Risk Management Program (ISRMP). The incumbent will consult program managers and staff to ensure risk mitigation activities meet agreed upon deadlines. Responsibilities for this position include planning, selection, and testing security software/hardware products required to support the Board’s local and remote technical environments. As a subject matter expert, the incumbent will provide technical assistance related to security technologies, vulnerability scans, and network integration of security requirements. Acts as a team leader in coordinating the efforts of a task force of organizational and/or industry representatives. Experience with technical standards development, enterprise architecture, and IT system auditing considered a plus. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority. This position works in a high-rise building.
