Under the general supervision of the Data Processing Manager III, the Staff Information Systems Analyst (SISA) operates in a complex WINTEL and Cisco based environment and possesses the necessary general and technical competencies to prioritize work, initiate contact, and resolve issues. The incumbent is expected to possess and apply knowledge about the organization’s customers, stakeholders, business priorities and environment in order to complete work assignments in an effective, accurate, and timely manner. Travel to headquarters and other institutions/field offices is required to perform network maintenance, respond to network outages and perform other duties as assigned. This position is based at High Desert State Prison (HDSP), and the incumbent will also be required to work at the California Correctional Center (CCC) in Susanville.
45% Maintain the complex hardware and software necessary to provide a reliable, secure, and productive environment for CCHCS network and desktop systems, mobile devices, and other IT equipment including IP based medical equipment used throughout the Department. Independently provide complex technical support and guidance for Healthcare staff at assigned various locations, and district offices/locations. Install and troubleshoot operating systems software, network communications software/hardware, software/systems monitoring tools, software distribution, system scanning/reporting tools, security and file backup tools, and patches. Monitor and analyze workstation performance, and network performance and availability. Run diagnostic utilities to detect hardware or network problems. Maintain accurate system documentation, including Asset Inventories, and other management required documentation using electronic tools and utilities. Understand and maintain Enterprise Standards for hardware and software resources.
35% Establish user access rights, and file and directory paths. Maintain account passwords. Develop effective system and user file backup methodology and schedules. Develop operational recovery strategies, and evaluate system and data file backup software and strategies. Independently coordinate problem resolution with the CCHCS Solution Center, other CCHCS/Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) IT administrators, network support staff, system users, Healthcare management, and vendor support staff.
10% Meet with CCHCS/CDCR IT administrators to discuss problems and requests for services. Review and report on remote system and network performance. Present strategies for improvements to management. Independently research emerging hardware, software, and groupware technologies and offerings. Prepare and present technical recommendations that will allow various technical specialists to reach agreements. As a project team member, assist in the planning and coordinating complex IT projects, ensuring projects are completed according to project schedules with minimal impact to customers and services. Make recommendations for improving usage of all system resources. Provide reports to management on system status and use.
10% Develop and maintain plans for disaster recovery and Configuration Management, including the testing of backup methods to be sure that backup media is viable. Participate in meetings and perform other duties as required.
