This is a Peace Officer classification [PC 830.3(h)] subject to Peace Officers Standards and Training [POST] requirements. The Investigator will be required to have a POST Basic certificate to be considered for this position. Under the direction of the Supervising Investigator I, the Investigator, Field Unit will independently conduct the most sensitive, complex, and diverse investigations, such as sexual and physical abuse, questionable/wrongful death and unlicensed facility operations. The Investigator will prepare complex investigative report findings obtained during field investigations and act in a lead capacity. The Investigator must perform a full range of peace officers duties and responsibilities and have a valid driver's license.
If successful in the hiring interview, a thorough background check, including criminal records checks, psychological screening and medical examination are required before a candidate can be appointed to this position.
WHO MAY APPLY: Eligible candidates who are current state employees with status in this classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification.
