Part of the second largest public pension system in the country, SR is looking for an outstanding individual to join the SR Leadership Team as the Assistant to the Director. The selected individual will work cooperatively with staff and leadership to provide outstanding service and administrative support.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Service Retirement (C.E.A. II), the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to:

  • Maintaining Director's appointment calendar.
  • Carrying out assignments using initiative and good judgement with general instructions and obtaining facts upon which decisions or recommendations may be based.
  • Providing adequate clerical and administrative coverage and support for Division.
  • Assisting Director, leadership team and staff with travel arrangements.
  • Facilitiating recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for new staff.
  • Managing confidential information.
  • Working with Human Resources to hire staff, track attendance and leave credits.
  • Working with and responding to requests from the Budget Office, Support Accounting and Benefits and Services leadership.
  • Tracking and analyzing division budget expenditures and reports
  • Overseeing Service Retirement contracts including initiating new contracts and tracking and analyzing contract expenditures.
  • Overseeing purchasing needs, managing inventory and maintaining/replacing equipment/supplies.
  • Organizing and streamlining internal processes and procedures such as hiring, new employee Onboarding, and payroll check distribution.
  • Completing, submitting, and maintaining all necessary forms regarding Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Services, and Facilities.

  • CalSTRS Service Retirement knowledge.

  • Experience analyzing work processes and developing procedures and workflows.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
