Under the general direction of the Supervising Tax Auditor (STA) I, the Associate Tax Auditor (ATA) reviews, analyzes and/or adjust the more complex sales tax returns, allocation schedules, field audit reports, taxpayer accounts in accordance with local tax allocations guidelines. The ATA also prepares billing and identifies questionable allocation/district tax distributions that should be investigated, and works closely with local jurisdictions to ensure compliance.
Knowledge of local & district tax laws and regulations. Analyze complex accounts, correct errors, prepare billings, inform Advance Desk of tax shifts, handle threshold requirements and electronic downloads. Assist local governments with tax distribution questions and respond to other inquiries. Must possess excellent communication skills (verbal & written), have strong analytical skills, and ability to work independently. Knowledge of Access and ability to develop queries and linking routines is desirable. All work performed at BOE Sacramento Headquarters; therefore, no travel is required.
