Under the supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, the Program Technician will provide support to CalRecycle staff in the Covered Electronic Waste (CEW) Recycling Program. The Program Technician will gain qualifying on-the-job training and work experience through assisting in the administration of California’s CEW recycling program. For example, the Program Technician will acquire an understanding of the regulatory requirements of the Program, apply them to their work, and be able to communicate them to the public as well as the Program participants. The Program Technician will review, and/or process forms, and record findings relating to the alleged source of the recycled CEW using a variety of information tools to verify the name, address, and phone number of the source listed. The Program Technician will make phone calls to confirm the discard of the CEW, type, and number of units. Once documentation validation is completed, the Program Technician will compile the findings into Program data systems for subsequent use by staff. Because the Program Technician may be communicating with a diverse public, bi-lingual skills are desirable but not mandatory.
Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel and other office productivity software such as Outlook, Word, SharePoint, etc. Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, priorities, and people simultaneously. Strong customer service skills, good written and oral communication skills, self-motivated, responsible and an independent worker; detailed oriented; good time management skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; and an outgoing, positive personality.
