Under the general supervision of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the Accounting Officer (Specialist) performs professional accounting work of average difficulty in the establishment, maintenance, research and analysis of Revolving Fund accounts and financial records. Typical responsibilities include maintaining and reconciling the CalATERS expenses, the Revolving Fund Cash Book and the subsidiary ledger accounts, preparing financial reports, auditing expense claims for compliance to established rules, analyzing and maintaining complex accounts and performing travel research studies and special projects. Considerable contacts are made with Control Agencies, Headquarters and district offices. Performs other accounting-related duties as required. Knowledge of computer software programs, good communication, interpersonal, analytical, and customer service skills required. The position is located in a high-rise building. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
Educational requirements: Equivalent to graduation from college, with specialization in accounting or completion of the equivalent of 19 semester hours of course work including elementary and advanced accounting, auditing, cost accounting, and business law.
