The Secretary of State (SOS) is recruiting an Office Technician (Typing) position in the Notary Public & Special Filings Section. Working hours are 8:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Duties: Review confidential and sensitive criminal history information; determine approval of notary public applications or initiate administrative and/or criminal cases; order, receive, and review records from other agencies; using an automated system, prepare and process a variety of correspondence, including memos and letters to complainants, victims, and notaries under investigation and respond to e-mail requests regarding notary public law; establish, maintain, and update confidential investigation files; receive and respond to telephone calls; and other duties as required.
Desirable Qualifications: The Secretary of State’s Notary Public & Special Filings Section is seeking a flexible and energetic person with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of departmental staff and the public. Strong communication skills are a must, as is the ability to meet deadlines, take initiative, work independently and be confidential with program information. Punctuality and good attendance are essential. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word is a must.
Who Should Apply: Applicants must have current transfer or list eligibility for permanent, full-time appointment to the Office Technician (Typing) classification. All appointments are subject to State Restriction of Appointment (SROA) provisions.
