This position serves as the Technical Advisor to the Deputy Director, Sales and Use Tax Department. The Business Taxes Specialist III (BTS III) provides assistance on matters concerning tax policy issues including the analysis of audit and compliance policies and procedures. The Technical Advisor assists and advises the Deputy Director in the development and implementation of strategies for effective and efficient administration of the sales and use tax program, coordinates complex or unprecedented sales tax projects and activities within the department, with other departments, and with outside agencies. The Technical Advisor works on sensitive, complex and/or unprecedented policy issues and identifies potential issues and makes recommendations. The Advisor serves as a high level liaison and represents the Deputy Director, as directed in meetings, hearings, conferences with Executive Management, Board Members, other agencies and the Legislature or their staff. Candidates must submit a complete Standard State Application (STD 678) by the final filing date. The position is located in a high-rise building.
