Job Description:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Chief Counsel, Settlement and Taxpayer Services Division, of the Board of Equalization, the Tax Counsel III, Supervisor, supervises auditors and attorneys. The Tax Counsel III Supervisor duties include supervising, training, personnel issues, and analyzing and advising on complex, difficult, and sensitive contract matters. The Tax Counsel III Supervisor performs difficult and complex assignments in state contracting matters and works in cooperation with Board staff to develop, draft and negotiate difficult, complex and sensitive contracts. The incumbent initiates or recommends innovative solutions to meet agency needs regarding difficult, complex and highly sensitive contract issues, advises and make recommendations regarding complex, difficult, sensitive and important policy and legal issues relating to contract matters. The Tax Counsel III works effectively with a high degree of independence and consistently achieves positive results. Travel required 5% of the time. All applicants will be considered however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
