The Nutrition Services Division is looking for a dynamic manager to lead our Southern School Nutrition Programs Unit. Our unit serves schools and institutions that participate in School Nutrition Programs (SNP) and other government-funded programs to ensure California’s students receive nutritious, well-balanced meals.
Direct and supervise analysts responsible for SNP sponsors and policy; monitor and evaluate analyst performance and workload.
Ensure staff is knowledgeable of applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing school nutrition programs; assess documents and staff service for consistency with California Department of Education policies and standards.
Direct the formulation of strategies to carry out policies, programs and priorities relating to caseload management, policy dissemination, sponsor manuals, application approval/renewal, and provision of technical support to SNP sponsors.
Assess staff travel and training needs; conduct training; apply preventive and corrective employee supervisory techniques.
Attend and present at conferences and meetings; some travel required.
Strong managerial skills. Demonstrated success and experience in supervision in a team setting

Familiarity with school nutrition programs
