This is a Limited Term Position for 18 months. Position may become permanent if permanent funding is approved.
Under the general supervision of the Supervising Tax Auditor II, it is the responsibility of the Business Taxes Specialist I to review, analyze and/or adjust the most complex sales tax returns, allocation schedules, field audit reports and taxpayer accounts in accordance with the local tax allocation guidelines. The Business Taxes Specialist I also identifies questionable allocation/district tax distributions making assignments to staff, providing direction as needed, evaluating the quality of work and prepares summary reports for management, other state agencies and local jurisdictions.
Candidates must possess the knowledge of local & district tax laws & have ability to evaluate work quality effectively. Ability to apply provisions of sales & use tax laws (including local & district tax) & related legal opinions, court decisions, rules & regulations. Strong analytical skills. Ability to work independently. Ability to work with staff at all levels to assist and provide guidance. Excellent oral & written communications skills. Programming knowledge of Access is strongly desired. The position is located in a high-rise building. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted. 2. Please describe your knowledge/experience of the sales and use tax law. Specifically, the local and district taxes laws and regulations. Explain your experience working with taxpayers, jurisdiction, and consultants resolving their local/district tax issues.
3. Please describe your experience using Access databases, developing queries and linking tables.
