Founded in 1884, the Veterans Home of California, Yountville is the largest veterans’ home in the United States. It provides residential accommodations and a wealth of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for independent living. Duties and Responsibilities: Under general direction of the Supervising Groundskeeper II, the Groundskeeper performs gardening and general maintenance work. Must possess the ability to perform physical work and use heavy equipment. Typical working conditions include on-going physical exertion and exposure to the elements. *Performs turf maintenance and construction. Edges and mows lawns, repairs and installs sprinkler systems, seeds and installs sod. *Applies pesticides. Sprays weed with pesticides using backpack sprayers or large driven spray tanks. *Operates power equipment including riding mowers, edgers, hedge trimmers, blowers, chain saws, tillers, weed eaters, pole pruners, and miscellaneous hand and power tools. *Installs trees, shrubs and groundcover. *Performs miscellaneous grounds related maintenance tasks. Services mowers and equipment, removes debris piles and clears fallen tree limbs and other hazardous issues. *Other related duties. Requirement: Must possess a valid California Driver’s License.
