DUTIES

Under the close supervision of the Staff Services Manager I of the Administrative Services Office within the Technology Services Division, the incumbent assists in maintaining the Department’s Telecommunication system and services, and assists in supporting the Department’s voice/data communications infrastructure. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in the analyses and assessment of the department’s telecommunication needs. Assist in performing system review and evaluate design for equipment based on projected volumes, anticipated growth, and the type of work involved. Ensure that systems and services are efficiently used to support departmental programs. Maintain current inventory of telecommunications facilities and equipment in use by the Department.
  • Evaluate orders for voice and data telecommunication services and equipment from vendors and utilities at new and off-site locations. Do minor telecommunication repair work and relocation of telecommunication services.
  • Coordinate interfaces with telecommunication service and equipment vendors, and appropriate state agencies.
  • Monitor traffic and performance of existing voice and data communications installations to recommend and implement refinements to improve cost benefits and efficiency.
