The reporting location for this position is the District Office located in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. This position will work under the direction of the District Superintendent. San Diego Coast District is the most popular District in the State Park System with over 14 million visitors (representing over 21% of the visitation for the entire System). The District is also one of the most diverse with intensively-used beach recreation, an internationally recognized wetland (Tijuana Estuary) and two signature parks of the State Park System: Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve and Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. The District Maintenance Chief needs to have broad knowledge that allows them to provide leadership and initiative for facility and equipment management at extremely busy and significant recreational, historic and natural parks. Public transportation is available directly to the District Office from many parts of the San Diego Area. State housing is not available.
