Job Description:

The Yreka Area Communications Center (YCC) has an opening for a permanent full-time Public Safety Dispatcher position effective July 21, 2013.  YCC has 12 PSDs and utilizes the 3/12 alternate workweek schedule with seniority shift and vacation sign-ups.

Duties:  Duties include but are not limited to operating radio, telephone, and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) equipment; answering various types of telephone calls while documenting information and dispatching appropriate officers and resources to incidents; and providing exceptional service to the general public, allied agency and CHP personnel. 

Desirable Qualifications:  Desirable qualifications include excellent attendance, punctuality, and dependability; working well independently and as part of a team during down time as well as in stressful situations; maintaining a positive attitude and relating well with coworkers and others; maintaining an excellent work ethic; and understanding and following directions while accurately completing work assignments. 

Who may apply:  Persons currently in the Public Safety Dispatcher classification who are eligible to transfer, should submit a CHP 220, Request for Transfer, to the contact person below.  The most senior same-class transfer who responds by the final filing date shall be selected. 

Persons eligible to apply must be on a certification list, eligible to transfer, voluntarily demote, reinstate, or be on an SROA list or designated Surplus.  All applicants will be considered; only the most qualified will be interviewed.
