Under the general direction of a Business Taxes Administrator I, the incumbent acts as a lead compliance outreach specialist (field) for the Statewide Compliance and Outreach Program (SCOP), planning, coordinating and conducting licensing inquiries in multiple geographic areas within the State. Areas include Riverside, San Diego and Imperial counties. The incumbent assists in identifying areas/industries for potential underreporting and coordinates compliance code enforcement efforts with other governmental agencies and jurisdictions, prepares and reviews inspection reports, compliance assessments, and recommendations of staff. Also tracks the results of investigations for compliance reporting. The incumbent will identify Outreach opportunities and make presentations on Board permit and reporting requirements to interested groups or organizations to foster improved self-reporting. Position requires frequent overnight travel. This position may be considered for compliance rotational duties within the same classification. Incumbent must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Meeting the training requirements for this job may require overnight travel for one or more days. Possible multiple hires. Position may become permanent if project/workload is permanently established. The position is located in a high rise building. 1. A Business Taxes Specialist I (BTS I) in a SCOP team evaluates audit leads from information gathered by; the inspector, direct contact with the taxpayer, and third party sources. Based on that evaluation the BTS I determines if the assignment should involve solicitation of amended returns or an audit. Please describe how your current or past job experience qualifies you for the position.
2. Describe your experience and skills in a leadership role, including the ability to facilitate the establishment of priorities. Include your experience as a lead person on a project, including reviewing and editing staff’s work.
3. Describe an experience you had resolving a difficult tax collection or tax auditing situation.
