Under the general supervision of the Data Processing Manager II, the Systems Software Specialist II serves as a high-level technical specialist in server design, connectivity, server hardware, Microsoft operating systems, and server and applications software - all operating in a multi-platform physical and virtual server environment. The agency’s network infrastructure includes a large LAN and WAN comprised of many Windows file and print, application servers, and Storage Area Networks. Approximately 4000 employees in the Board’s headquarters and 35 remote offices utilize these services. The incumbent performs a wide range of the more complex consultative, analytical, and evaluative assignments in order to maintain, monitor, troubleshoot, and support the BOE’s network and related components. The incumbent also serves as a lead person for Exchange 2010 implementation, and experience with EMC software including Documentum and Captiva is desired. Other duties include working in a team leader capacity on large and complex technology projects, and independently as an expert technical resource. The candidate must be self motivated, able to acquire the confidence and support of staff and management, and effectively communicate orally and in writing.
