The Department of Real Estate has several vacancies for a General Auditor III in the Los Angeles and Sacramento District Offices. The Los Angeles District Office is located at 320 W. 4th Street, Suite 350, Los Angeles. The Oakland office is located on 1515 Clay Street, Suite 702, Oakland. The Sacramento office is currently located on 2201 Broadway but on 7/1/13 will be located on 1651 Exposition Blvd, Sacramento. These positions are Permanent, Full-Time. Duties of the position(s) include: Performs complex investigative and routine audits of licensees who act as Mortgage Loan Brokers (MLB) and who perform other acts requiring a real estate license. Leads and works with a crew of auditors conducting field audits of the accounts and records of licensees and subdividers. Assists in audit program evaluation and in the development and improvement of auditing methods and techniques. Assists the Audit Supervisor by performing preliminary review of audits completed by an Auditor I or General Auditor II. The audit review process consists of verifying the completeness of an audit file with final approval by the Audit Supervisor. Assists with training of new auditors. Performs a chargeable follow-up audit, which is an audit conducted to determine if violations found in the prior audit have been corrected. Evaluates, revises and develops audit working papers, audit programs, and manuals. Testifies at administrative hearings as an expert witness for the Department on the evidence gathered relating to serious violations found during the course of an audit. Reviews audit reports, working papers, and documentation in preparation for the hearing. Required qualifications: 4-year degree in accounting or 19 units of professional accounting/auditing courses (transcripts required). Field investigative audit experience. Financial auditing or accounting experience. Ability to learn and apply real estate laws and regulations to specific audit situations. Ability to perform and complete audit assignments. Ability to write accurate, concise audit reports. Ability to work under pressure within mandated timeframes.Willingness to travel within the regional area (occasional overnight travel).A valid California Driver’s License with good driving record. Fingerprint/Criminal Clearance required for this position. Desirable qualifications: Knowledge of California Real Estate Laws, Rules, and Regulations. Computer literate, preferably with experience in Microsoft Word and Excel. Dependable and reliable.
