Job Description:


Under the close supervision of a Senior Management Auditor, and with lead assistance from Associate Management Auditors, the Staff Services Management Auditor (SSMA) reviews Certified Public Accountant (CPA) audit reports and performs field audits and program reviews of non-profit agencies or entities. The SSMA is an entry level position and performs the following duties:

  • Organize, prioritize, review, and analyze CPA audit reports of non-profit agencies or entities in a professional and timely manner to determine compliance with both state and federal regulatory requirements. Conduct fiscal reviews of complete audit report files received from independent CPAs. Calculate reimbursement discrepancies between CPA verified and agency reported figures. Refer information to the Senior Management Auditor and make recommendations to close out the program contracts. May attend case conferences to discuss, identify, and resolve deficiencies discovered during the audit review.
  • Perform independent field or special audits in a professional manner in accordance with Government Auditing Standards. Develop audit programs for use in performing field audits, both for financial statement audits and program review engagements including the preparation of working papers and audit reports in accordance with auditing standards. Submit findings to the Senior Management Auditor for review and transmission to program unit for resolution. Assist or make oral or written presentations to management of non-profit agencies or entities at audit exit conferences, discussing audit findings, recommending corrective action, and suggesting improvements in operations.
  • Request and attend training courses to meet the continuing professional education requirements of auditing standards, and to maintain technical competence in conducting audit and audit-related assignments. Conduct other related auditing services and other job-related duties as specified and approved by the Senior Management Auditor.
