The reporting location for this position is the Ocotillo Wells Sector Office. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Peace Officer Supervisor. This is an opportunity to become part of the dynamic Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Team. This high paced OHV Park is visited by over one million visitors annually, primarily during winter months. The duties will emphasize public safety and emergency medical response while managing a balance between high use recreation and resource protection. The District is patrolled by four wheel drive vehicles, all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles. Teamwork will be emphasized as the position works closely with Maintenance, Resource, Interpretation and Administration staff. The position will also work closely with two Sheriff’s Departments, CHP, and the Bureau of Land Management. This District offers many opportunities for growth, including becoming an instructor (EMR, DT, Firearms, ATV, and Motorcycle) as well as extended assignments outside of the District during the summer months. There are two vacant positions available. State housing is not available. There are two nearby communities: Julian and Borrego Springs.
