Under the general direction of the Supervising Management Auditor, Audits and Investigations Division, the incumbent performs the following duties in relation to auditing education programs:
Assist in the development of audit programs to evaluate auditees’ compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
Independently, or as a member of an audit team, plan, prepare, conduct, and complete audits of program sponsors/agencies, local educational agencies, or entities to determine their compliance with state and federal requirements.
Properly summarize and support the results of audits, provide auditees and upper management with identified problems or concerns, both orally and in written format.
Perform independent field or special audits in a professional manner in accordance with Government Auditing Standards. Develop audit programs for use in performing field audits, prepare audit working papers, and write audit reports in accordance with auditing standards. Submit findings to supervisor for review and transmission to program unit for resolution.
Conduct entrance conferences, stating the nature, purpose, and objective of the audit; conduct exit conferences.
Assist in performing presentations in workshops. Workshops cover regulatory requirements for audits, what should be in the audit report, and what must be reviewed during the audit.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel.
Performance and financial audit experience.
