The Nutrition Services Division (NSD) mission is to assist agencies in meeting the nutritional needs of school children in preschool through grade 12. The NSD operates the Sacramento Distribution Center that services counties in Northern California. The distribution center processes frozen, cool, and dry U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foods and Department of Defense (DOD) fresh fruits and vegetables. Under the direction of the Materials and Store Supervisor, the Materials and Stores Specialist acts as the lead for the receipt, storage, and inventory of USDA Foods and DOD produce for distribution to recipient agencies participating in the National School Lunch Program.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
Must be willing to work in frozen and cold storage areas for long periods of time
**Due to federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, Material and Stores Specialists are required to have forklift experience and will be trained, tested, and certified if selected.

All applicants must clearly indicate the basis of their eligibility in the “Explanations” section on the Standard Application Form (Std 678). Employment provisions as outlined by the Department of Personnel Administration's State Restriction of Appointments (SROA) policy will prevail. In addition, current or future executive orders relative to filling vacant positions may also affect this process. Applications will be screened and only the most qualified will be interviewed.
Possession of minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the minimum qualifications, the applicant will be removed from the eligibility list.
Candidates MUST include Mat & Stores (Spec) on the title section of your state application, otherwise your application may not be considered for an interview.
