The Board of Equalization, Customer Service and Publishing Division is looking for a Staff Services Manager II (SSM II) to manage multidisciplinary areas of responsibility in its Taxpayer Information Section. The Taxpayer Information Section responds to over 600,000 calls and 25,000 e-mails per year, providing customers and taxpayers with information on a wide range of tax areas covering sales and use taxes, 26 special tax areas (environmental, hazardous waste, recycling, etc.) and property taxes. The SSM II is responsible for planning and evaluation of Board services, policy and procedure development, planning, directing and managing multidisciplinary staff. Because the manager will interact on a regular basis with tax program representatives and other stakeholders, he or she must possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills that can promote collaboration and consensus building. The manager must be attentive to detail, have excellent writing and verbal skills and be familiar with call center or production environments. Individual should have a proven record of supervision, human resource management and budgets. This position reports to the Chief of the Customer Service and Publishing Division. Training and Development assignments may be considered. The position is located in BOE’s annex location in the Natomas area of Sacramento.
