DUTIES

Under the general direction of a Child Nutrition Supervisor II (CNS) in the Southern Field Services Unit within the Nutrition Services Division, the CNS I functions as a Regional Field manager for the South Coast- Region 6 and supervises the activities of Child Nutrition Consultants, who conduct program compliance reviews, provide technical assistance and train agencies. Specifically, the incumbent performs the following duties:

  • Supervise the activities of Child Nutrition Consultants conducting compliance reviews, vendor reviews, management and technical reviews, and workshops, as well as review and evaluate reports prepared by staff as a result of the compliance reviews
  • Supervise and assist in reviewing nutrition programs to determine agency compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with other Regional Field managers and others to establish, educate, evaluate, and continuously streamline staff procedures and other resources to ensure solidarity in communication to agencies
  • Direct staff in the interpretation of applicable laws and regulations; determine agency needs; and provide customer service such as on-site visits, technical assistance, and pre-review training seminars

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Must be willing to travel. Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population. Child Nutrition Program knowledge and experience, as well as Registered Dietitians preferred.
