JOB DESCRIPTION :
The Associate Systems Software Specialist will be a member of the ISV unit in support of the Independent Software Vendor system & critical products running on the mainframe. The incumbent is responsible for implementing, customizing and maintaining software products. Resolving complex technical problems related to software products. Acts as a technical consultant on projects as well as to users, application staff and management. Develops, gathers, documents and reports metrics on performance.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

- Ability to identify and resolve complex computer software/hardware problems
- Expert knowledge and experience in computer programming techniques

- Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff in both verbal and written form
- Technical knowledge of computer operating systems
- Experience working in an environment of multiple systems
- Product installation and maintenance
- Knowledge of z/OS, JES2 and I/O processing
- Working knowledge of TSO/ISPF, CLIST, REXX, programming languages
Current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. A training and development assignment (T & D) may also be considered. All appointments are subject to SROA/Surplus hiring provisions.
