The reporting location for this position is at Headquarters in Sacramento. This position will work under the direction of the Chief Counsel. The Legal Office is responsible for providing a broad range of legal services to the Department of Parks and Recreation, including but not limited to consultation, advice and assistance with real property matters, public contracts, operating, cooperating and concession agreements, environmental and other regulatory compliance requirements, and other issues concerning the operation of the State Park System. The office also handles tort, employment, labor and administrative law matters, handling some administrative hearings and coordinating other litigation with Attorney General’s Office. Some travel is required. The successful candidate hired via an examination list will be appointed for 12 months, with a possible extension of another 12 months. The successful candidate must maintain list eligibility in order for the limited term assignment to be extended for the second 12 months. State housing is not available.
