RESPONSIBILITIES: Investigators conduct felony criminal investigations of insurance fraud and related penal statutes, both State and Federal. Investigators make arrests, interrogate suspects, interview witnesses, work with informants, prepare comprehensive written reports and utilize sophisticated surveillance and electronic evidence gathering equipment. Investigators are expected to work undercover and testify as expert witnesses for prosecutors in State and Federal courts. Investigators must work unusual hours on short notice and also travel throughout the state. The incumbent must successfully qualify at quarterly weapon qualifications and meet all Peace Officers Standards Training requirements. Incumbents perform a full range of peace officer duties and responsibilities in the accomplishment of their assignments in accordance with the California Penal Code, Section 830.3. Incumbents must qualify and carry a firearm; possess a valid driver’s license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles and be able to safely operate a motor vehicle. This position is designated as peace officer. Background check, fingerprinting and approval of psychological screening and medical examination are required. Travel may be required.
