The Del Mar Fairgrounds is currently recruiting for a Carpenter II. Under the direction of the Supervisor of Building Trades, the Carpenter II works at leadworker level building new, temporary and permanent structures, remodels existing offices, bars, buildings and concession stands, repairs and maintains existing buildings and structures. Operates a variety of equipment related to construction and maintenance tasks including forklifts, manlifts, scissor, lifts, etc. Prepare lists of materials, supplies, estimates job costs and layout of jobs. Works from blueprints, plans and or specifications, works with contractors on projects related to carpentry functions; leads a crew of temporary carpenters and laborers. Ability to communicate effectively, establishing safety rules and regulations related to the carpentry area. As a lead, teaches employees safety rules, issues and the proper use of equipment applicable to carpentry and building codes.
