The Board of Equalization, Customer Service and Publishing Division is looking for a Business Taxes Administrator I (BTA I) to manage multidisciplinary areas of responsibility in its Taxpayer Information Section. The Taxpayer Information Section responds to over 600,000 calls and 20,000 e-mails per year, providing customers and taxpayers with information on a wide range of tax areas covering sales and use taxes, 25 special tax areas (environmental, hazardous waste, recycling, etc.) and property taxes. The BTA I is responsible for the planning and evaluation of Board services, policy and procedure development, planning, directing and managing multidisciplinary staff. Because the BTA I will interact on a regular basis with tax program representatives and other stakeholders, he or she must possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills that can promote collaboration and consensus building. The BTA I must be attentive to detail, have excellent writing and verbal skills and be familiar with call center or production environments. Individual should have a proven record of supervision, human resource management and budgets. This position reports to the Chief of the Customer Service and Publishing Division. The position will be located in BOE’s branch office location in the Culver City area of Los Angeles. This is a limited term position with the possibility of becoming permanent. Travel will be required for this position, initial training will consist of several weeks of overnight travel, and subsequent training may require overnight travel for up to a week per training session. Interested candidates must meet educational requirements. Training and development assignments may be considered. All applicants will be considered; however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.
