DUTIES:

The Air Resources Board (ARB), referred to as 'The Board', is a dynamic and innovative leader in setting and implementing controls to protect and improve air quality for the citizens of California. The Board's scientific and technical programs rely extensively on web-based information systems. The mission of the Office of Information Services (OIS) is to leverage the most effective information technologies available to achieve the Air Resources Board's (ARB) program goals. The mission includes ensuring that such technologies are professionally managed, properly maintained and efficiently used. The Enterprise Systems Management (ESM) Section within OIS has responsibility for architecting and supporting the back-end infrastructure, databases, applications, web servers and systems software used to host all of Air Resources Board's (ARB’s) Program areas. The Enterprise Server Unit within the ESM Section provides technology expertise and oversees all phases of the Project Life Cycle for ARB’s enterprise hosting environment, including responsibility for system design, specifications, capacity planning, testing, deployment, documentation and maintenance. The primary duties and responsibilities of the position includes serving as an analyst and technical specialist responsible for maintaining, restoring and backing up data for all ARB locations, monitoring the ongoing maintenance of multipe Storage Area Networks, monitoring and maintaining back-up systems; providing assistance during routine hardware and software maintenance; overseeing the unit's inventory data; ensuring completion of Helpdesk Tickets; and serving as a resource to assist point of contacts in troubleshooting problems as they relate to file storage, print capabilities and other services provided by the unit.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Highly desirable qualifications include: 1) a love of information technology; 2) excellence in customer service; 3) a solid understanding of personal computer hardware and Microsoft operating systems; 4) a basic understanding of network and/or data communcations; 5) a continuous desire to learn; 6) a positive attitude; and 7) the ability to manage your time effectively. Desirable qualifications include: 1) organization skills; and 2) writing and documentation skills. Electronic applications WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Current state employees who are in the Assistant Information Systems Analyst (Specialist) classification, are list eligible, or have transfer eligibility.
