The Planning and Technical Support Division has a managerial opening in the Regional Air Quality Modeling Section. The Section is responsible for: performing state-of-the-science meteorological and air quality modeling required for control strategy evaluations and State Implementation Plan updates for all criteria pollutants and regional haze; providing modeling support for major field studies conducted in California; conducting technical reviews of modeling results produced by other agencies and consultants; providing technical consultations for other sections of the Air Resources Board (ARB); and act as a technical liaison for regional and national air quality management organizations. The successful candidate will direct a group of highly qualified scientists and engineers in meeting the goals of the Section, and interacting with other Sections in the Branch to meet the modeling needs of the organization.
Applicants must have strong management and personal skills, and be able to write and speak clearly and effectively. They must be able to manage a diverse staff of scientists and engineers, as well as interact with technical staff from within ARB, other agencies, and the general public. Strong organizational and coordination skills are also desired, as is the ability to distill and convey highly technical information to upper management. Some travel may be required.
