The Secretary of State (SOS), Management Services Division is seeking one Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor) to coordinate and supervise the Accounts Receivable/Cashiering accounting functions for a fast paced organization with a state of the art accounting system. The position is located in downtown Sacramento, near Light Rail, K Street Mall, and other amenities in the rich architectural styled SOS building.
DUTIES: Under general supervision of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor) the incumbent is responsible for coordinating and supervising the Accounts Receivable Unit. This position also is responsible for reviewing the work performed by the unit. The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of the State accounting process, be able to work independently and take appropriate action, communicate tactfully and work effectively under tight time schedules, prepare accurate and timely reports, possess strong written and oral communication skills. The incumbent also analyzes and recommends changes in business practices and assist in determining the impact of changes on Secretary of State financial operations.
• Willingness to creatively apply problem solving and research skills to accounting issues.
• Ability to apply rules and regulations from SAM, UCM and Fiscal State Administrative Manual.
• Knowledge of Accounts Receivable and billing process.
• Effectively communicate with control agencies, the public and other staff at all levels in a team environment.
• Ability to research and reconcile, analyze adjustments and make sound decisions.
• Ability to review and analyze information using accounting system and other PC tools.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative.
• Ability to recognize and evaluate problems, and take effective and appropriate action.
