Job Description:
Position: The Secretary of State’s office is seeking a highly motivated individual to work in the Information Technology Division, Customer Support/ Data Guidance Unit. Under the general supervision of the Data Processing Manager II this incumbent will be responsible for maintaining existing legacy systems. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to work in a dynamic computing environment. The Secretary of State (SOS) is located near the State Capitol with convenient light-rail access at our front door. Our agency is committed to staff development and will provide technical training and skills development assignments to help the individual grow and excel.

Duties: The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing, developing and maintaining complex production processes, procedures, schedules, and documentation; serve as a liaison providing assistance to analysts, programmers, and end-users in the maintenance of production systems; analyze, update, troubleshoot/resolve and release JCL as required for daily, monthly and weekly operations; assist with facilitation of release activities per procedures, which includes but is not limited to status meetings, and project preparation meetings; and provide and recommend consulting and technical direction to IT staff and Management

Desired Qualifications: The incumbent should possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Information Technology (IT) concepts, methods and practices; Expert in RACF, ESP, TSO, ISPF, JCL, SAR, Data Set and Management. In addition, the incumbent must be able to act independently and demonstrate leadership; handle multiple tasks, be creative, highly motivated and handle rapidly changing priorities; learn new technologies quickly and thoroughly; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; analyze and conduct research and investigation into technical items and take effective action; interact effectively with all levels of management and staff; work under pressure to resolve issues and meet scheduled deadlines; Serve as liaison with Data Center and other entities of State Government; and work overtime as needed.
