Job Description:
Under the general direction of the Fish Habitat Supervisor, incumbent acts as lead person/foreman of shop located in Davis, overseeing work production and assigning projects to as many as 7 shop personnel. Acts as Safety officer of shop; training, reporting and documenting safety meetings for staff on a weekly basis. Familiar with policies and procedures of bidding and purchasing of materials and supplies for shop projects through a variety of vendors. Must be proficient in all phases of mild steel, aluminum and stainless steel welding, including stick, MIG and TIG. Activities include repairs and maintenance of existing fish screens, ladders and barriers, fish rescue procedures, dam maintenance, fabricate specialty devices and equipment for region 2 hatcheries, fisheries, local biologist, wildlife and law enforcement personnel. This position is required to travel up to 30% of time. Class A driver’s license is required.
