JOB DESCRIPTION :
Under the general supervision and direction of the Supervisor of the Information Security Audit Unit within the Information Security and Oversight Section, the Systems Software Specialist I/II (SSS I/II) will participate in a wide variety of consultative, analytical, and evaluative assignments to ensure the security and integrity of Franchise Tax Board (FTB) information assets. The incumbent will work independently and collaboratively to perform complex technical security audits and forensic analysis and will develop and document criteria, processes and procedures for the technical security audit program. All duties are performed within the framework of the Department’s mission and values, and in accordance with law, policy, standards and procedures.

- Demonstrated ability to aquire and appropriately apply detailed technical knowledge on a variety of information technologies
- Demontrated analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
- Demonstrated written and verbal technical and non technical communication skills
- Knowledge of information security mandates, policy, standards and procedure
- Knowledge, experience or certification in digital forensics
- Knowledge of external and FTB technology infrastructure, systems, platforms and protocols
- Proven ability to work independently and colaboratively, take initiative and complete tasks and assignments
- Knowledge of concepts, practices, methods, and principles of current and evolving industry trends and standards for information technology systems and frameworks
- Ability to interact with various levels including Legal, Personnel and law enforcement agencies
Current state employees with status in the above classification or lateral transfers from an equivalent class, former state employees who can reinstate into this class or persons who are reachable on a current employment list for this classification. A training and development assignment (T & D) will also be considered. All appointments are subject to SROA/Surplus hiring provisions.
