Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist I, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting pharmacy operation by maintaining pharmaceutical and drug supply inventory and inventory records within the Central Pharmacy.
45% - Enters medication orders into the pharmacy computer systems. Ensures medications are properly prepared for filling prescriptions and dispensing. Repackages medications.
30% - Operates repackaging, sorting, and prescription filling machinery; and completes related record keeping related to all functions. Inputs physician orders and maintains patient profiles. Completes distribution, inventory control, and record keeping for narcotics and other controlled substances.
15% - Within the pharmacy, maintains drug and supply inventory and related records. Orders supplies to maintain established stock levels. Checks goods received against purchase orders, invoices and/or requisitions. Follows through on vendor payment paperwork. Segregates, labels and stores pharmaceutical supplies. Reviews pharmacy stock for expired drugs.
10% - Prepares and processes medications for shipping to and returning from prison pharmacies. Cleans equipment, shelves and work areas. Performs special assignments, and other related duties as required.
