Job Description:
JOB ADVERTISEMENT Under the general direction of the Assistant Chief Counsel, Settlement Division, of the Board of Equalization, the Tax Counsel III, Specialist, of the Settlement Division has the responsibility to settle complex, difficult, and sensitive tax cases, employing technical accuracy, completeness and consistency in legal positions taken and cases considered and settled, and to advise and make recommendations regarding negotiations and difficult and sensitive policy and legal issues facing the Legal Department. The attorney works effectively, with a high degree of independence and consistently achieves positive results. If you are not a state employee, you must be on a current list for Attorney and/or Attorney III and be reachable for this classification. Please see for more information. This position utilizes the Attorney and/or Attorney III exam. The position is located in a high-rise building. Travel required 15% of the time. All applicants will be considered; however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority. Candidate must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
