Independently initiate and process the more difficult travel claims and relocation claims. Review the work of three (3) to (5) professional level accountants. Reconcile the Revolving Fund for two (2) independent organizations, i.e., the California Environmental Protection Agency and the Air Resources Board. Act as the California Automated Travel Expense Reimbursement System (CalATERS) table administrator; maintain and modify CalATERS tables in conjunction with California State Accounting & Reporting System (CALSTARS) table changes in association with the Budget Section for proper alignment with organizational structure, i.e., PCA, etc. Review year-end closing deadlines in conjunction with CalATERS/State Controller’s Office cutoffs. Prepare the more difficult year-end accruals; review and approve the year-end accruals of multiple professional level accountants. Assist other accounting staff to support year-end financial statements.
Knowledge of accounting systems; excellent organizational, research and analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate effectively to all staff levels; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain a positive, creative and flexible approach to issues and problems while working in a fast-paced team environment; proficiency with Excel and Word software applications, and basic knowledge of CALSTARS.
