Job Description:
This position is in Sacramento, CA. The BTCS independently performs the more complex and difficult tax compliance and collection work and is responsible for analyzing consumer use tax and closed out corporate collection accounts to determine if the corporate officers or responsible parties can be held liable, effecting collections, and for recommending for discharge those accounts that are uncollectable. The incumbent, while working autonomously, informs the supervisor of complex and/or sensitive issues on assigned cases and acts as the lead person in cases leading to criminal prosecution on fraudulent and illegal operations.
The incumbent acts as an expert resource to journey level staff with responsibility under the various sales and use tax programs and provides administrative support to management and supervision. Incumbent must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to travel overnight as needed for training. More than one position may be available. Applications must be submitted with a completed supplemental questionnaire to be considered. This position is in a high-rise building. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted. All applicants will be considered; however, SROA/Surplus will be given priority.

Please answer the following three questions on separate paper and include with your Standard State application.
1) Please list the elements required to issue a Section 6829 dual determination and provide a brief explanation of the types of evidence that may be gathered to support each element.
2) Please explain the differences between a timely petition and an accepted Administrative protest in regards to the BOE Appeals Process and from a collection perspective.
3) Please explain any experience you have had with the Board of Equalization Petition and Appeal process that may have involved compliance assessments, audits, dual determinations, and/or successor liabilities.
