The position is in Norwalk, CA. Under the general supervision of a Business Taxes Compliance Supervisor II, the Tax Compliance Specialist independently performs the more complex and difficult tax compliance and collection work and is responsible for analyzing consumer use tax and closed out corporate collection accounts to determine if the corporate officers or responsible parties can be held liable, effecting collections, and for recommending for discharge those accounts that are uncollectable. The incumbent, while working autonomously, informs the supervisor of complex and/or sensitive issues on assigned cases and acts as the lead person in cases leading to criminal prosecution on fraudulent and illegal operations.
The incumbent acts as an expert resource to journey level staff with responsibility under the various sales and use tax programs and provides administrative support to management and supervision. Incumbent must be able to perform the essential job functions (*) with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to work in a high rise building and travel overnight as needed for training. More than one position may be available. The position requires the incumbent to be fingerprinted. Applications must be submitted along with the supplemental questionnaire to be considered.
