JOB DESCRIPTION :
Under close supervision of the Administrator I, the Accountant I (Specialist), in a training capacity, performs professional accounting work in maintaining the cash receipts accounting records and determining the disposition of receipts to appropriate funds, including Personal Income Tax, Corporation Tax, the General Fund, DMV, and COD. Assists with maintaining and reconciling the Voluntary Contribution Funds and preparing year-end Financial Statements. Maintains working relationships with FTB personnel and state control agencies to facilitate the cash receipts process.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
Knowledge of Uniform Accounting Principles, procedures and financial record keeping
Ability to apply General Accounting Principles
California State Fund Accounting knowledge
Automated accounting systems and PC software experience
Ability to use Microsoft Office tools to develop and maintain documents, spreadsheets and databases
Excellent attendance, organization and strong communication skills (written and oral)
Ability to follow prescribed procedures, complete tasks and meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
Ability to work well independently and in a team environment
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Flexible and willing to learn in an environment of change
